How HOSA Helped to Refine my Career Pathway
HOSA: Future Health Professionals is an organization compiled of members striving to enter the medical field, and I am no exception. Ever since my Freshman year of high school I was infatuated with the idea of becoming a medical professional, however, I also had a love for the idea of engineering. For the longest time, I was racking my brain trying to figure out how I could combine the best parts of the two career pathways I wished to take in my future. In the midst of my dilemma my teacher had reached out to me about the idea of joining my local HOSA chapter, and then things started to get clearer.

My HOSA chapter at Richmond High School consisted of some longtime friends that were eager to pursue the same things I had wished to. I had thought that this would provide an amazing opportunity to bounce some ideas off of them for their input. When I had brought up my issue with my career interests they were very helpful and helped me find out what a biomedical engineer does. It was perfect being able to utilize engineering for medical equipment, prosthetics, or even making synthetic organs! My HOSA friends had helped me find a career that would allow me to help people’s lives and incorporate another one of my passions. I know that there are many others out there in HOSA with similar situations to mine, and I truly thank HOSA for the tools it provided me in finding my path.
