Holiday Spirit
Jingle bells, jingle bells we are now in the month of December, meaning Christmas is right around the corner. The month of December is one of the busiest holidays out of the entire year: end of semester finals, buying Christmas presents, figuring out whose house you are going to for Christmas dinner, it is a lot to take in.
I love the month of December because not only is Christmas my favorite holiday but at the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center we host a community service project known as “Adopt A Family.” Every year each student in the Health Science class adopts a family in the community and buys Christmas presents for them. I love getting a family that has younger children because the gifts they ask for are so outrageous. They may ask for batman car or a dream girl dollhouse, it is such a sight to see. We collect all the gifts then deliver them to the families a day or two before we go on Christmas break. It is such a delight to see the expression on the families faces we they open the door and see all the wrapped presents. It is like Santa came a week early!
Also, this year will be the first time I get to participate in the Ben Glenn Lego Drive with the Indiana Executive Council. I will have the opportunity to go to the Lego Store and buy all the Lego’s I can get to donate to children. I love making people smile through generous actions. I know we will have a great time giving back to our community and doing so together. I encourage all of you to get into the HOSA holiday spirit and give back to your community. You don’t necessarily have to spend money, but you can
donate your time to make a difference!
