A Glimpse into Mica's Life
(L to R: Mom, Me, Dad)
This is a photo with my mom and dad. They’ve been so supportive with all of my goals in life. They’ve been standing beside me through all of my challenges and achievements in life. I am forever grateful to have these two amazing parents. I come from a huge family. I have 11 half siblings with 13 nieces and nephews with one on the way! I am very family-oriented and love to spend time with them all.

I graduated from Westfield High School this year. On our graduation day, we had to cancel due to the rain. This is from graduation day 2! With amazing speeches and songs from my peers, the ceremony was a success the second time around.
I also attended J. Everett Light Career Center in Indianapolis. There, I completed two years in the EMT program. Thanks to my amazing instructor, Mrs. Milewski, and her husband, I am now a Nationally Certified EMT!
Since 8th grade, have been taking Spanish to improve my reading, grammar, and speaking skills. Growing up half Mexican, I already had a background with Spanish, but these classes helped me improve my foundation in the language. My senior year, I took AP Spanish. I was able to form new friendships with other students who have a love for the language as well!
In the summer of 2018 after my junior year, I was given the amazing opportunity to participate in the Indiana University Honors Program for Foreign Languages. I had the honor of going to León, Spain and live there for 6 weeks! I was able to take classes in Spanish to dive deeper into the language and culture of Spain. I even tried new foods such as eel, rabbit, and even prawns! I am so grateful for the opportunity and experience.
At the end of the day, I am honored to be your 2019-2020 Indiana HOSA State Secretary. I can’t wait to meet so many of you at our conferences throughout the year!
